FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

When I complete my online registration, is there anything else I must do to complete my player(s)’ registration?

No. Once you have completed all of the registration requirements and paid the registration fees by the required deadline, your player registration is complete.

Are there any additional costs to play soccer with BAC besides registration, uniforms, and/or fundraisers?

There may be miscellaneous costs – Some teams may opt to incur additional costs for items or activities throughout the year, like team banner, end of season party, trophies, and coach recognition. Also, there will be costs for any additional tournament fees your team may participate in.

Must I register online?

Yes. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, there will be NO "in-person" registration available.

Can I use a credit card to pay my fees?

Yes.

Can I use a check to pay my fees?

No.  All payments need to be made by credit card.

Are there refunds?

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, if season is cancelled and no games are played, we will be issuing full refunds. If the season begins and is cancelled midway through, prorated refunds will be offered.

Can I select the team on which my child plays?

We cannot guarantee placement of a child on any team. Our ultimate goal is to balance the number of players on a team roster in each age group. If registering on time, you will normally be put on a team with someone you have requested to play with. A coach cannot guarantee or request a child plays on his/her team. Once a player is placed on a team roster, it is highly unlikely the player will be switched to another team. Practice schedules are determined in late July by the coaches, well AFTER the teams have been formed.

How is registration order determined?

All players' registration will have their completed registration materials date and time stamped at time of submission of fees.

When will I know which team my child is on?

The volunteer coach of your child's team will contact you at the beginning of August.

When do practices start and where are they?

Practices usually start the first or second week of August. Practices are held at Jefferson School, Bancroft School, Cohen School or Oki Park.

When are practices?

Most coaches will have practices twice a week between 5pm and 7pm, usually on Monday and Wednesday or on Tuesday and Thursday. Practice schedules are usually determined in late July, well AFTER the teams have been formed. Volunteer coaches determine the practice times and are assigned a practice field by BAC.

When and where are the games?

Under-Six teams (U6 - four and five-years-old) will play Fridays between 5pm and 7pm. All games are played on at Oki Park unless there is a scheduling conflict.

Under-Eight to Under-Twelve teams (U8 through U12) will play on Saturdays between 9am and 2pm. U8-U12 games are played on fields in the College Greens, Arden Park, Arden Manor, Del Dayo, Fulton-El Camino, Rosemont, and Sierra Oaks neighborhoods. Half the games are scheduled on a BAC field.

Under-Fourteen to Under-Nineteen (U14 and U19) will play games in the Greater Sacramento and outlying areas.

When is the season?

The season usually begins the first Saturday after Labor Day and will end the third Saturday in November. There are a total of ten games excluding seeding tournament and other fun tournaments.

What does the soccer club provide?

A ten (10) game schedule, fields, licensed coaches, practice equipment, referee fees, team and player pictures and a pre-season Jamboree.

What will I have to provide?

Each player must have soccer cleats (no baseball cleats), shin guards, a soccer ball, and a uniform. Shin guards and soccer cleats are required for practices. The uniform will be distributed to the child by the club prior to the first game. There may be additional fees aside from equipment that you can opt to participate in that may include team snacks during games, team banners, and end-of-the-season events. Please consult your team parent for this information.

Are there any fundraisers?

Yes. Each player is required to sell three tubs of FatCat Cookie Dough to help cover referee fees.  However, you have an option of paying a $30.00 “buy out” fee at the time of registration only in lieu selling the cookie dough.

Are there any after season activities?

There are two optional tournaments at the end of the season:  1) District Cup Tournament for older teams (U12 to U19) and 2) Soccerfest for younger teams (U8 to U14).  These tournaments will be at the team’s expense.

How are players selected for teams?

BAC’s philosophy has been to place players on teams according to the age matrix noted on the registration page.

Can I coach or referee even if I have no experience?

Yes, we are made up of volunteers and are always looking for help with coaching and refereeing. We especially encourage parents and relatives to participate. If you are selected, BAC will pay for your fees to attend a CYSA coaching clinic or a referee clinic. Refer to the Coaches' Corner for more details.
